Dirt Church is a monthly nature connection gathering where we use simple somatic practices and our senses to deepen our relationship with the Land, ourselves, and one another.
We'll begin with tea and a chance to arrive together, then head outside for guided practices that might include walking, sitting, listening, noticing, sensory exploration, and quiet time on the Land.
Cara will guide you through ways of paying attention to what you can see, hear, smell, touch, and feel — helping you become more present to your body and the living world around you.
We'll come back together to reflect and share what we noticed and experienced.
You’ll be practicing:
Nature connection — learning ways to engage your senses and build a deeper relationship with the natural world
Somatic awareness — noticing what your body is telling you and using simple practices to become more grounded and present
Relationship with the Land — spending time with a particular place and learning to notice its seasons, weather, plants, wildlife, and rhythms
Connection with community — sharing the experience and learning alongside other people who care about relationship with the living world
No previous experience is needed. No particular spiritual beliefs are required. Dirt Church isn't a sermon or a set of beliefs. It's a practice of relationship — with yourself, with other people, and with the Land.
Why Laughing Tree Cove?
Laughing Tree Cove is a 16-acre forested gathering and learning place beneath Mt. Pisgah. The creek, trails, trees, wildlife, weather, seasons, and changing landscape give us a living place to practice with.
The Land is one of the teachers.
We return month after month, noticing how the place changes and how our own relationship with it deepens.
Rain or shine! We'll gather outside when conditions allow and use the covered gathering space when they don't.
Bring: a mug for tea and layers for mountain weather.
Donate what you can: $5–$30
No one is turned away for lack of funds.
Laughing Tree Cove is a private residence in the Upper Hominy Valley, beneath Mt. Pisgah in Candler, NC; exact address is provided after registration.
